Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. In September, the Hancock County board of supervisors approved Ochsner to manage the operations of Hancock Medical Center for a 90-day probationary period. Previously, Quorum Health Resources, a hospital management subsidiary of Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems, managed the 47-bed, county-owned hospital.
Polly Davenport, CEO of Ochsner North Shore Region in Slidell, La., will also serve as CEO of Hancock Medical Center.
“With the recently completed reconstructed facility and a dedicated staff of medical professionals, we believe Hancock Medical is a model community hospital for the people it enthusiastically serves,” Ms. Davenport said in a statement.
Hancock Medical Center is Ochsner’s first hospital in Mississippi.
