Novartis considers purchase of Amneal Pharmaceuticals, reports suggest

Basel, Switzerland-based Novartis is reportedly in talks to purchase Bridgewater, N.J.-based Amneal Pharmaceuticals, according to NJBiz.com.

Novartis officials believe the sale will bolster its Sandoz business after a number of recent mergers shook up the generic drug industry, according to the article.

The deal has not yet been finalized, leaving room for other interested parties to make a potential offer. NJBiz reports interested parties include: Thousand Oaks, Calif.-based Amgen, Basel, Switzerland-based Roche Holding, London-based AstraZeneca and New York City-based Pfizer.
