The organizations have spent the past few months discussing ways to improve healthcare availability and reduce costs for patients in Maine. Officials discussed specific initiatives such as advancing care models through technology and coordinating care services between both institutions to improve patients’ access.

“EMHS and the MGH share a profound commitment to ensuring that the highest quality care is available to the patients in our communities, in our region, and beyond,” said Peter L. Slavin, MD, president of MGH. “MGH clinicians in such specialties as neuroscience, telemedicine, transplant, cardiac, pediatrics, orthopaedic surgery and trauma are excited to have the opportunity to work with their neighbors to the north to deliver on that promise.”
