Marquette General, Duke LifePoint Sign Memorandum of Understanding

Marquette General in Marquette Township, Mich., and Duke LifePoint Healthcare in Brentwood, Tenn., have announced the signing of a memorandum of agreement toward a DukeLifePoint acquisition.

Duke LifePoint’s acquisition proposal includes financial commitments to enhance quality care and patient safety and expand service lines. Investments will be made in major capital improvements, including construction of a state-of-the-art outpatient surgery center, comprehensive cancer center, private patient rooms, new technology and new IT infrastructure.

Upon approval of the acquisition, Marquette General would become the fourth hospital in the Duke LifePoint network and the first in Michigan.
