Officials said IU Health’s plan to construct a hospital and education center in Bloomington “solidified [Premier Health’s] interest in merging,” according to the report.
Representatives told the Indiana Public Media patients of both healthcare providers will not be affected by the merger and the majority of patients will see no gaps in their insurance coverage.
Under the agreement, Premier Healthcare personnel will become employees of IU Health, but most clinicians will continue providing care at their current locations. Officials said no layoffs will reportedly occur at either organization, according to the report.
