The payer filed a rate increase request of 11.6 percent for its PPO and 10 percent for its HMO with the Arizona Department of Insurance, the report states. If approved, the increases would be effective July 1.
Minnetonka, Minn.-based UnitedHealthcare requested similar rate increases for its small group health plans. The payer seeks an 11.3 percent increase for its HMO and an 11.4 percent increase for its PPO.
Humana spokesperson Marina Renneke told Phoenix Business Journal the payer’s proposed rate hikes are “in no way indicative of the rate changes that will ultimately be requested and that small business customers may see.”
