HB 711 follows the failed merger of public Bert Fish Medical Center in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., to Adventist Health’s Florida Hospital in Orlando. A judge forced the two to unravel the merger after it was complete due to violation of the state’s Sunshine Law.
The bill also requires all public hospital boards to formally review the benefits or drawbacks potential sale or lease of their facilities by the year’s end.
