Via Oncology, also headquartered in Pittsburgh, is a UPMC offshoot that connects oncologists and top-tier cancer centers to develop recommendations and share best practices to improve the outcomes of cancer patients. The company’s clinical pathways were developed by oncologists at the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in 2004 and became commercially available in 2009, according to the report.

While the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette notes the exact terms of the deal were not disclosed, officials do not anticipate any staffing changes at Via Oncology following completion of the acquisition.
