Good Shepherd Board Chairman Bill Huffman expressed disappointment over the terminated deal.

President and CEO of Good Shepherd Steve Altmiller said the health system’s board of directors has resumed its search for an appropriate partner.

The two facilities had reached a potential agreement in July. The acquisition would have allowed Good Shepherd to absolve its mounting debt and would have helped pay for technological and facility improvements to the facility.

“Both organizations worked hard to make the transaction possible for the benefit of patients, physicians, staff and the community,” said Mr. Huffman. “While we are disappointed in the outcome of this process, we respect Duke LifePoint’s right to make business decisions that achieve their organization’s goals.”
