Columbus Regional signs letter of intent to partner with Piedmont Healthcare

Columbus (Ga.) Regional Health and Piedmont Healthcare, an eight-hospital system in Atlanta, signed a letter of intent to enter into exclusive negotiations to form a potential partnership.

If negotiations prove successful, Columbus Regional, including its two hospitals and mulitple urgent care centers and physician practices, will become Piedmont Healthcare’s “regional hub” for clinical services in southwest Georgia.

The financial terms of the agreement, if any, were not disclosed.

We share a commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care with Columbus Regional and welcome this opportunity to increase access and enhance care across Southwest Georgia,” Kevin Brown, president and CEO of Piedmont Healthcare, said in an emailed news release. “Columbus Regional has a rich history of caring for its community and region, and we are thrilled to start working on a partnership with an organization that shares so many of our values.”
