With the finalized purchase, the city officially owns the 156-bed hospital and its properties and equipment.
A city official told CantonRep.com May 16 officials have hired 24/7 security to monitor the interior and exterior of the hospital property.
“Mostly [uniformed security guards] will be outside, but they’ll be making rounds inside to check security alarms and [smoke] detectors,” the official said, adding that city police will also patrol on and around hospital property.
Brentwood, Tenn.-based Quorum Health, which previously owned the facility, permanently closed the hospital in February.
