The proposed merger would combine Natividad, which is owned by Monterey County, and Salinas Valley Memorial into one single health system. The merger proposal was approved in a last-minute meeting due to Salinas Valley’s March 7 deadline for merger proposals.
The new health system would fall under Monterey County control, and a single overarching board would oversee the new system.
Monterey County originally contacted Salinas Valley about a partnership in late February.
