Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Avera Health will pay $5.5 million for a hospital owned by the city of Creighton, Neb., effective Feb. 1, according to an Argus Leader report.
Creighton Area Health Services will become Avera Creighton Hospital after the sale. Avera has managed the facility since Nov. 2009. It is comprised of a 23-bed critical access hospital, a 47-bed long-term acute-care facility and a physicians’ clinic.
Avera, a five-state network, will spend an additional $1.5 million on improvements over the next four years, including technical upgrades and a new operating room.
