The hospital board is considering several options for partnerships including a full sale of the hospital or a whole hospital joint venture arrangement, which would allow local representatives to remain part of the hospital’s governing board, according to the report.

The hospital is currently publicly owned by the Kenai Peninsula Borough (Alaska uses the term “borough” over county) and leases the hospital to a non-profit corporation that operates the hospitals.
