Alameda will continue operating the current hospital services and intends to create a new acute rehabilitation center for patients with multiple traumas, brain injuries and strokes, according to a news release. Additionally, Alameda Chief Administrative Officer James Jackson has taken over day-to-day management of San Leandro Hospital in addition to his current role at Fairmont Hospital, which is also located in San Leandro.
Alameda signed a letter of intent with Sutter Health to acquire the hospital in May, and the two organizations signed a definitive agreement in July. Sutter also created a $22 million fund to keep the hospital running through the transition period. Alameda has assumed control of the fund.
