AdventHealth and Intermountain Health have signed a letter of intent to form a joint venture combining their greater Denver-area hospitals and care sites.

Here are five things to know, according to a July 21 joint news release:

1. The two systems plan to sign a definitive agreement in the coming weeks. The transaction is expected to close in early 2027, pending regulatory approvals. AdventHealth said it will manage and lead daily operations, utilizing a whole-person care approach to support patients and care teams across the area.

2. The joint venture would bring together AdventHealth’s five Denver-area hospitals — AdventHealth Avista, AdventHealth Castle Rock, AdventHealth Littleton, AdventHealth Parker and AdventHealth Porter — along with off-site emergency and urgent care centers and dozens of medical practices, and Intermountain’s three Colorado hospitals — Good Samaritan Hospital, Lutheran Hospital and Platte Valley Hospital — along with related physician practices and clinics.

3. The joint venture brings together Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based AdventHealth, which operates more than 2,000 care sites and employs more than 100,000 team members nationally, and Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Health, a nonprofit system of 34 hospitals and approximately 400 clinics with locations in six states.

4. “By bringing together the capabilities of our organizations, we can expand access, augment services, enhance clinical quality and continue improving the health and well-being of people across the greater Denver metro,” David Banks, president and CEO of AdventHealth, said in the release.

5. “We are excited about the prospect of a joint venture that would expand access to high-quality care and create a more connected experience for patients and care teams across the greater Denver area,” Rob Allen, president and CEO of Intermountain Health, said in the release.
