1. DLP Healthcare, the joint venture between Duke University Health System and LifePoint Hospitals, acquired a majority of the assets of Charlotte, N.C.-based MedCath Partners, a division of MedCath that operates cardiac catheterization labs, for $25 million.

2. Manhasset, N.Y.-based North Shore-LIJ Health System and Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, N.Y., formed a strategic alliance to share best practices related to quality, clinical services and operational efficiencies.

9. Community Hospital Long Beach (Calif.) joined Fountain Valley, Calif.-based MemorialCare Health System as its sixth hospital in Los Angeles and Orange Counties.

10. Brooksville (Fla.) Regional Hospital, Spring Hill (Fla.) Regional Hospital, Gainesville, Fla.-based Shands HealthCare and the University of Florida formed an alliance through the Heart and Stroke Emergency Specialists program.

11. Hackensack (N.J.) University Medical Center will submit an application on June 1 to open a 128-bed hospital in Westwood, N.J.
