Tri Rivers was the largest remaining independent multi-specialty medical clinic in western Pennsylvania, according to the report. More than 200 employees and 21 physicians see approximately 120,000 patient visits a year across Tri Rivers’ nine outpatient surgical sites and electromyography units. The group specializes in spine care, orthopedics and physical rehabilitation.
As the venture’s majority partner, UPMC will pay the salaries of all Tri Rivers employees, according to the report. All workers, including physicians, will be under contract with UPMC by the end of the year. Financial details of the sale were not released. The practice will be renamed Tri Rivers Musculoskeletal Centers in 2015.
