Other universities in Wisconsin — including the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Milwaukee-based Medical College of Wisconsin and University of Wisconsin-La Crosse — retain accredited public health graduate programs, but do not maintain accredited schools, according to the report.
To receive CEPH accreditation, the UWM School of Public Health was judged by peer institutions on more than 20 areas, including curriculum, research and student and faculty retention.
“The vision, passion and expertise of many people have brought us to this milestone today,” said Ronald Perez, PhD, interim dean of the UWM School of Public Health. “We can now be even more effective in pursuing our mission of advancing population health, health equity and social and environmental justice throughout Milwaukee, the state of Wisconsin and beyond.”
