A Florida physician received more than he bargained for when a woman unexpectedly went into labor at a gas station in Merritt Island, Fla., Friday, according to the Dayton Daily News.

Javier Soto, MD, an obstetrics and gynecology physician at Rockledge (Fla.) Regional Medical Center, said the woman’s husband asked him for help after seeing him pumping gas in his scrubs.

Dr. Soto, who said he was on the way to the hospital to deliver another baby, reportedly jumped into action and delivered the newborn in the backseat of the couple’s pickup truck.

“It’s what I do on a daily basis. It just so happened to be in a gas station,” Dr. Soto told Dayton Daily News.

An ambulance later arrived to take the woman and her baby to the hospital.
