Brody School of Medicine to receive $16M in state funds

On a recent visit to Greenville, N.C.-based Brody School of Medicine, North Carolina's Gov. Pat McCrory (R) announced his budget will include $16 million in funds over the next two years for the medical school.

"With those funds, my goal is for all of us to use the next two years to develop a long-term plan for a sustainable economic model that will allow the school to continue producing the doctors North Carolina needs for generations to come," Gov. McCrory said during his visit.

The funds will be critical for the school, which dismissed rumors last month it was closing due to decreased funding.

The budget will soon be announced to state legislature for consideration, according to the statement.
