AMA launches online continuing education hub

The American Medical Association rolled out a digital continuing education portal for physicians and other clinicians, designed to reduce the administrative work associated with earning and reporting continuing medical education credits.

The portal, called "AMA Ed Hub," offers CME opportunities, as well as tracking and reporting functions. AMA Ed Hub currently offers activities from JAMA Network, the AMA's STEPs Forward program and the American College of Radiology. The association plans to expand partnerships with other organizations to add to these offerings.

The portal also automatically reports CME credits for physicians licensed under the American Board of Internal Medicine or American Board of Pediatrics, as well as any physician licensed in Tennessee or North Carolina. The AMA plans to expand direct reporting as it partners with other medical specialty groups and state medical boards.

"Physicians are committed to lifelong learning to continually improve patient care. We also know that physicians are time pressed, so we want to make learning and the process of obtaining credits for that learning as effective and as streamlined as possible," AMA President Barbara McAneny, MD, said in a press release.
