With 140,000 physicians, ACP is the second-largest physician association in the U.S. John Rother, the president of the National Coalition on Health Care, which runs the campaign, said he believes ACP’s participation will help create a greater impetus for change.
ACP’s support for controlling prices comes after the Obama administration said Monday it wants the power to negotiate the prices of high-cost drugs under the Medicare Part D program. It remains unclear whether the proposal, part of the fiscal 2016 budget, will pass through Congress, according to the report.
