With new CEO, Providence Seaside will get new hires, could get updated look

Changes could be in store for Providence Seaside (Ore.) Hospital as a new CEO takes the reins, The Daily Astorian reports.

Kendall Sawa, RN, joined Providence Seaside in January after serving as CEO of Ocean Beach Hospital in Ilwaco, Wash.

Now, with Mr. Sawa at the helm, more full-time physicians will be hired, and additional partnerships may be formed with Columbia Memorial Hospital in Astoria, Ore., according to the report.

Mr. Sawa recently introduced four new full-time specialists to the community, and he is continuing to look for more primary care doctors in clinics in the Oregon communities of Cannon Beach, Seaside and Warrenton. In fact, a number of providers, including a nurse practitioner, physician's assistant, an internal medicine physician and two walk-in clinic specialists, are expected to arrive at Providence Seaside in the next six to nine months, he told The Daily Astorian.

Aside from new hires, Providence Seaside also will continue seeking ways to form partnerships with Columbia Memorial Hospital, Mr. Sawa told the publication. For instance, when Columbia Memorial Hospital announced that it was ending its home health services at the end of April, Providence Seaside agreed to pick up Columbia Memorial Hospital's 17 patients.

Providence Seaside may also get a new look. With hiring more physicians and other personnel, the hospital may have to expand, and a master construction plan is being worked on, Mr. Sawa said, according to the report.
