HCA-HealthOne has began a “public relations offensive” to convince Colorado Spring’s city council to delay its decision on the health system and accept bids from other systems to operate the facility.
Memorial Health System CEO Larry McEvoy disclosed in December he had met with HCA-HealthOne to explore the option of selling the hospital to a for-profit system. However, he said he ultimately supports the non-profit option.
HCA-HealthOne did not offer any specific bid for Memorial Health, but the independent commission valued the hospital at approximately $400 million.
The city council is scheduled to vote on the matter on Jan. 25.
