The major workforce reduction is part of VUMC’s attempt to cut $250 million from its operating budget over its next two fiscal years, due to changes in Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement and other revenue changes.
The upcoming workforce reduction estimates do not include the 300 VUMC employees laid off earlier this summer, according to the report.
All employees affected by the cuts will be given 60 days’ notice and the following, according to The Tennessean:
• Separation pay based on years of service
• Priority considerations for open positions
• Career counseling services
• A supplement to help cover healthcare costs
• 120 days of access to child care services
