The photos, posted on Twitter April 27, show an overflowing trash can, dirty sink and haphazard countertops in the room where Christopher Wilson was set to receive injections for an ankle injury.
“My son is a veteran of the United States Arm. He went to the #VA in Salt Lake City yesterday. This was the condition of the room he was seen in. Very unprofessional, unsanitary and disrespectful. Please retweet. Maybe @realDonaldTrump will see it,” Stephen Wilson tweeted.
Hospital leaders expressed concern over the photos.
“I was taken aback by the condition of the room,” said Karen Gribbin, MD, chief of staff at the hospital, according to KFOR. “Mr. Wilson should not have been placed in the room in that condition. The room should be cleaned, supplies and trash removed, before the next patient is placed in there. We are beginning our investigation into seeing exactly how this happened.”
