Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas is part of an ongoing federal investigation into “public corruption, money laundering and tax evasion,” according to a local NBC News report.
A letter from the U.S. Attorney’s office in Dallas asked that the hospital withhold records requested by news outlets, as the materials are directly related to an ongoing investigation by the Department of Justice. The letter said federal officials are “currently conducting a criminal investigation,” according to the report, and the release of documents could interfere or prejudice the probe.
Federal officials declined comment on the matter, while Parkland released a statement saying it has “been asked by the U.S. Attorney for information concerning certain subjects of its investigation” and intends to fully comply.
A contractor named in search warrants for the FBI’s ongoing investigation of Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price is also a contractor in the $1.25 billion construction project for a new Parkland Hospital, according to the news report.
