Four things to know:

1. The executive order, titled Accelerating America’s Leadership in Artificial Intelligence, directs federal agencies to prioritize funding AI research and other projects, as well as to share government data with third-party technology developers.

2. The order consists of five pillars, which include exploring ethical concerns around AI, displacement of human workers, development of training programs and lack of regulations governing the technology.

3. Under the order, the U.S. Commerce Department’s National Institute of Standards and Technology will develop a set of standards for creating “reliable, robust, trustworthy, secure, portable and interoperable AI systems.” Federal agencies must also establish their own guidelines for AI.

4. Over the next few weeks, President Trump is expected to sign multiple executive orders on technology topics such as quantum technology and 5G development, The Hill reports.
