The 1.3 million-square-foot facility will include 210 beds for surgical, mental health, extended-care and intensive care unit patients. The hospital will employ 1,800 to 2,000 people to serve the roughly 45,000 veterans who now receive medical care at VA facilities throughout the valley.
The VA has also built four primary care clinics in the area that offer pharmacies, X-rays, labs, social work services and some mental health services.
