Study Reveals Shortage of Non-Physician Healthcare Workers

A study by Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tenn., showed a shortage of healthcare workers who are not physicians or nurses, according to a report by the Nashville Business Journal.

“Allied Health in Tennessee: A Supply and Demand Study 2010” revealed that respiratory therapy, health information administration, HIT, nursing assisting, medical imaging, physical therapy assisting and dental hygiene fields have more jobs than there are state college graduates to fill them. Many of the positions require only an associate’s degree.
