Assistant Professor of Health Policy and Administration Deirdre McCaughey led the research team and said the results were not what they expected, according to the news release. They actually found little relationship between patient scores on the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey and the sheer amount of money hospitals spend on those environmental services.
“By focusing on improving the efficiency of operations, hospitals can contribute to hospital performance while also getting the most out of the financial investments they make toward support services,” McCaughey said in the release.
