Louisiana Spends More Than $100M on Planned University Medical Center

State spending for University Medical Center, the planned replacement for Charity Hospital in New Orleans, has exceeded $100 million, according to a Times-Picayune report.

The $103.6 million that has been spent on the project makes up more than 8 percent of its $1.2 billion budget.

The state’s expenses include the following:

– $46.3 million — land acquisition
– $43 million — architectural-engineering consultants
– $4.1 million — legal services related to buying or expropriating the 244 parcels on the Mid-City footprint
– $4.15 million — program management consultants
– $2.9 million — environmental assessment consultants
– $2.6 million — relocation programs
– $284,581 — demolitions
