Mr. Galerzano asked one hospital contractor, Brian Lemay, to submit inflated proposals for work on the hospital project, then used the overage to pay Mr. Galzerano’s personal expenses. Mr. Galerzano received around $270,000 in total.
Prosecutors from the attorney general’s office sought to have Mr. Galerzano post $5,000 in bail, but Judge John Lu opted to let Mr. Galerzano free on personal recognizance after his lawyer pointed out that the ex-executive has been aware of the potential charges for nearly two years.
Mr. Galzerano is due back in court for a pretrial conference on Aug. 19.
