Sen. Bernie Sanders talks healthcare with Killer Mike

Videos released from hip-hop artist Michael "Killer Mike" Render's several-hour interview with Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) show the pair discussing everything from voter registration to gun control to healthcare.

Rolling Stone called the interview, which takes place in Killer Mike's barbershop, a potential boon to Sen. Sanders as he works to close the gap among young and minority voters. According to the magazine, a poll of South Carolina showed 80 percent of black Democrats support Hillary Clinton.

The interview is split into six videos, one which talks about Sen. Sanders' views on healthcare.

"People think that some of the ideas I have are radical ideas. They are not radical ideas," Sen. Sanders said. "I live ... 15 miles from the Canadian border. Canada — everybody has healthcare as a right. It ain't a big deal. They've had it for 50 years or so. It's not a big deal."

Sen. Sanders lists the U.K., Scandinavia, Germany and France as places where everyone has access to healthcare, and asks, "Why are we the only major country that doesn't have healthcare for everyone?"

Killer Mike also said he believes some key facets of the European healthcare system could be emulated in the U.S. to improve care. He said, "The first thing I say to Americans who preach fear of a one-payer health system, for instance, is I say, 'You ever been to Europe?' If you have never been outside of the country you may not know one how great this country is and two how great it could be if we could make some subtle changes."
