Advocate Good Samaritan, Studer Group Win Baldrige Awards

Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, Ill., and Studer Group in Gulf Breeze, Fla., are among seven recipients of the 2010 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Awards, recognizing performance excellence, innovation and leadership, according to a release from the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, a 333-bed facility, has an AA bond rating, and its operating margin puts it in the top 10 percent of all hospitals. It has reduced malpractice expenses and achieved patient satisfaction scores in the top 10 percent of hospitals measured by Press Ganey.

Studer Group is a healthcare consulting firm providing coaching, teaching and evidence-based tools and tactics to healthcare organizations. It has achieved high marks in client and employee satisfaction, and its revenues have grown by more than 30 percent a year since 2001.

A third healthcare recipient of the Baldrige award was MEDRAD, a Warrendale, Pa.-based device maker for radiology and cardiology.
