Hospital spokesperson Wendy Forbes, who did not reveal the exact number of layoffs, said there were fewer than 10, and most of the reductions were operational or administrative, not clinical.
“The reductions will have no effect on service lines or patient care,” said Ms. Forbes.
Hospital spokesperson Joel Malecka told The Denver Post the layoffs are unrelated to a lawsuit filed by 67 patients and 22 spouses alleging the hospital caused infections and death due to improper equipment sterilization.
He told the newspaper the job cuts also won’t affect hospital efforts to rebuild organ transplant operations.
