The 50 cut positions include 43 vacated positions and seven layoffs, which affected housekeeping, laundry, dietary, medical imaging, laboratory, records and information technology departments. The hospital also cut programs such as its Breathers Club, which offered exercise classes.
In addition to the cuts, Port Huron Hospital is planning to launch new service lines to boost revenue, including a bariatric program and robotic surgery technology.
