The program would be based out of MetroHealth but developed in collaboration with Novi, Mich.-based Trinity Health and Muskegon, Mich.-based Mercy Health Partners. Borgess Health in Kalamazoo, Mich., and St. Joseph Mercy Health System-Ann Arbor will have clinical oversight of the program, if it is approved, according to the report.
MetroHealth is pursuing the application to give area residents a choice for open heart care, in hopes of ending what it calls a “monopoly” on the service by Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Spectrum Health, according to the report.
The Michigan Department of Community Health has 120 days to determine the fate of the application, after it is deemed complete.
