Maryland’s Upper Chesapeake Health System Plans $250M Expansion Following Merger

Upper Chesapeake Health System in Bel Air, Md., is finalizing a $250 million expansion plan for the health system that would include the relocation of Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace, Md., according to a Baltimore Business Journal report.

The plan would move the aging Harford Memorial to a location between Interstate 95 and Route 155 in Harford County, Md., as well as expand the system’s emergency, urgent care, rehabilitation and diagnostic imaging services, according to the report.

The plans follow Upper Chesapeake’s planned merger with Baltimore-based University of Maryland Medical System. The merger was announced last year and is expected to be complete by 2013.
