Lourdes Medical Center in Washington Lays Off 19, Reduces Work Hours

Lower reimbursement and increasing levels of uninsured patients has led Lourdes Medical Center in Pasco, Wash., to lay off 19 employees and reduce work hours for other employees, according to a Tri-City Herald report.

In addition to the layoffs and reduced hours, the hospital will continue a hiring freeze and eliminate five vacant positions. Hospital officials did not disclose which departments were affected by the layoffs but confirmed the reductions also applied to senior-level positions, according to the report.
