Louisiana Hospital on the Verge of Closing, CEO Fired

River West Medical Center in Plaquemine, La., is on the verge of closing and has fired its CEO as the hospital struggles to pay its employees and remain viable, according to published reports.

The hospital has stopped most of its operations with the exception of its emergency room.

Over the past few weeks, River West has missed payrolls and advanced paychecks to employees that bounced.
