Idaho lawmakers working on new plans outside ACA regulations

CMS Administrator Seema Verma and White House officials held a conference call with Idaho officials about further efforts by the state to craft insurance options not compliant with the ACA, according to Politico Pulse morning newsletter.

Idaho lawmakers have worked to create plans outside ACA regulations since the beginning of the year. Ms. Verma sent a letter in March praising their efforts but saying the ACA is still the law of the land, and its rules must be enforced.

Officials did not disclose policy details discussed on the call.

"The combination of things that we're offering in Idaho is a pathway … to stop the hemorrhaging of the young and healthy," Idaho Lt. Gov. Brad Little, R, told Politico. "They fundamentally agree with that. They just have to get comfortable with what's 'substantially compliant.'"
