The hospital had previously announced a multi-phase plan for a new hospital that would take 10 to 15 years at a cost of $575 million. In contrast, the single-phase approach aims to build the hospital in only four years.
The new hospital will include all private rooms and private bathrooms; centralized nurses’ stations; an emergency department with 50 percent more treatment rooms and separate treatment areas for trauma, cardiac, urgent, behavioral health and pediatric patients; a new pediatric unit; an expanded intensive care unit; and a central location for all Heart & Vascular Institute services.
