Here are four things to know about the bill.
1. The legislation would fund the government through Feb. 16 and also includes six years of funding for CHIP.
2. The bill would delay the ACA’s medical device tax and “Cadillac” tax on high-value plans for two years. Implementation of the health insurance tax would be delayed one year.
3. Though Republican leaders are hoping the CHIP funding will encourage Democrats to support the proposal, the measure does not include any protections for immigrants in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which Democrats have been advocating for.
4. If Congress does not pass a short-term funding bill before midnight Friday, the federal government will shut down.
