Lee Sacks, MD, chief medical officer for Oak Brook, Ill.-based Advocate Health Care was among the leaders who testified.
“I firmly believe that if we’re going to succeed in reducing costs and creating value…you have to look at systems of care,” Dr. Sacks said to the Senate committee.
Dr. Sacks and others discussed the importance of post-acute care in health system transformation. The American Hospital Association supports a bill moving through the Senate known as the Long-term Care Hospital Improvement Act. It would establish criteria to clarify the role long-term care hospitals play in healthcare delivery.
