1. Naples, Fla.-based Health Management Associates released its earnings for the quarter ended June 30, 2011, reporting a 13.4 percent jump in revenue to $1.3 billion and a 22 percent jump in net income attributable to the company to $48.6 million, compared to 2Q 2010.
2. Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Holdings reported quarterly revenues were up 4 percent to $8.1 billion, compared to 2Q 2010. Meanwhile, net income attributable to the company dropped nearly 22 percent from $293 billion in 2Q 2010 to $229 billion for 2Q 2011.
3. Franklin, Tenn.-based IASIS Healthcare announced its earnings for its third quarter ended June 30, 2011, announcing net revenues of $718.6 million, up 12.6 percent compared to $638 million the same quarter a year prior. The company’s earnings from continuing operations dropped to $1.6 million, compared to $21.7 million in 3Q 2010.
4. Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Hospitals announced its earnings for the second quarter ended June 30, 2011, posting an 11 percent increase in revenue to $877.6 million from $790.6 million over the same quarter last year. The hospital operator also reported $40.3 million in net income attributable to LifePoint Hospitals for the quarter, indicating a 7.2 percent increase from $37.6 million in 2Q 2010.
5. Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare Corp. announced second quarter 2010 net operating revenue of $2.4 billion, up 3.1 percent from $2.3 billion in 2Q 2010. In addition, the company’s net income attributable to the company’s shareholders soared to $55 million, more than double net income of $25 million in the same period a year prior.
6. King of Prussia, Pa.-based Universal Health Services announced its second quarter net income attributable to UHS of $103.6 million, up nearly 58 percent from $65.6 million in the 2Q 2010. Net revenues also increased 42 percent to $1.9 billion during 2Q 2011, compared to $1.34 billion during 2Q 2010.
