Ms. Barr’s resume includes starting the first national rural accountable care organization and assisting in the development of CMS’ ACO Investment Model for rural ACOs participating in value-based care, the statement said.

MedPAC was established through the Balanced Budget Act in 1997 to advise Congress on Medicare payment issues.

“I’m looking forward to working with this distinguished group of commissioners to make American healthcare stronger and more sustainable,” said Ms. Barr in the statement.
