Prior to his position at the University of Hawaii, Dr. Cadman served as chief of staff and senior vice president of medical affairs at Yale-New Haven (Conn.) Hospital. He then moved to Hawaii and served as dean of the medical school from 1999 until 2005, according to Hawaii News Now.
In 2005, Dr. Cadman stepped down from his position as dean after being diagnosed with Primary Progressive Aphasia, a rare degenerative disease that inhibits speech and writing skills. He retired in 2009.
Dr. Cadman was instrumental in the development of research programs at the medical school.
