Federal judge temporarily blocks Mississippi abortion restrictions

U.S. District Court Judge Carlton Reeves put a temporary restraining order on Mississippi's newly implemented law that bans abortions after 15 weeks, according to The Hill.

Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant, R, signed the bill into law March 19, marking the nation's most restrictive abortion legislation. It does not include exceptions for rape or incest, although it does grant an exception if a "major bodily function" is threatened.

The temporary block was sought by Jackson (Miss.) Women's Health Clinic, the state's only abortion clinic.
